Chris Davies explains Dion Sanderson omission after Birmingham City's win at Leyton Orient

Chris Davies has confirmed defender Dion Sanderson missed Birmingham City's win over Leyton Orient due to an injury.

Sanderson was available once more after serving a suspension but the 24-year-old didn't travel to London with his teammates after picking up an injury. Davies again selected Christoph Klarer to partner Krystian Bielik at centre-back at Brisbane Road.

Blues secured three more points on the road after goals from Keshi Anderson and Alfie May secured a 2-1 win at Brisbane Road.

Speaking about Sanderson's absence post-match, Blues boss Davies said: "It’s a few weeks. We can’t put anything specific on it yet because something’s unknown but it will be a few weeks."

Sanderson impressed in pre-season without the captain's armband and started the season as Bielik's partner. But a red card at Charlton two weeks ago handed Klarer a chance to stake his claim and the Austrian now has the shirt.

Blues are expected to strengthen their defence further in the final days of the transfer window.
