Chris Davies will not stop celebrating with Birmingham City’s fans after fist-pumping the away end for the fourth time this season.

Blues overcame Rotherham United 2-0 on Saturday to extend their unbeaten start to the League One season. The win at the New York Stadium was also the fourth in succession away from St Andrew’s across all competitions.

After equalling Blues’ wins tally on the road for the whole of last season, Davies was in jubilant mood and approached the away end for the now customary celebrations.

“From my point of view, we have to enjoy it,” he said. “I know this was a ground the club came to right at the end of last season and didn’t get the result that it wanted, so why not celebrate?

“They’ve suffered for long enough. In my eyes we are going to celebrate when we win and celebrate together.

“We’ve had to earn that today and we’ve got to go and prove it again in the next game. For the travelling support, so vocal at the end and supported us all game, it was nice to celebrate with them at the end.”

Key to Blues’ win over the Millers was their defensive solidity on set pieces. Rotherham are renowned for being one of League One’s strongest and most direct outfits but Blues coped well.

Davies added: “That was really pleasing. We want to make sure we keep that back door shut at all times and to get a clean sheet is a real positive.

“The bits that Bailey (Peacock-Farrell) had to do on corners he did well with a real presence and conviction. We had good organisation and timing in our defending and I thought we looked solid.”
