Chris Eubank Jr apologises to Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren after calling them 'scumbags'
Chris Eubank Jr has apologised for his astonishing outburst in which he he labelled boxing supremos Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren as "scumbags".
At the press conference in London to launch the upcoming Riyadh Season show in Saudi Arabia on October 12 - in which Eubank Jr faces Polish fighter Kamil Szeremeta on the undercard of the mega undisputed light-heavyweight clash between Artur Beterbiev and Dimitry Bivol - Eubank tore into the duo as well as fellow promoter Kalle Sauerland, who he also managed.
The 35-year-old accused Hearn of permitting a proposed fight with Eubank Jr and Conor Benn back in 2022 even though the latter had tested positive for a banned substance and also described veteran promoter Warren as a "cheat" and a "liar". But now in a statement produced by Eubank Jr's new promoters BOXXER, the Englishman has apologised for his actions.
He said: "Following today's press conference for the historic Riyadh Season event on October 12th, I would like to retract my inaccurate statements and offer my apologies to Frank Warren, Eddie Hearn and Kalle Sauerland. I now wish to focus purely on boxing and preparing for a huge fight in Riyadh next month.
A furious Warren had vowed to sue Eubank Jr for his comments, but as part of the joint statement has accepted the Brighton and Hove boxer's apology. He said: "I accept Chris' apology and retraction. I too have said things before and apologise to him also if any criticism of him has upset him in the past.
"I look forward to seeing him compete on this huge Riyadh Season card. We look ahead to some potentially massive bouts in the future."
