The presenter had just heard that Top Gear wouldn’t be returning to the air after just six episodes when telly bosses are believed to have revealed that his Channel 4 Friday night chat show had also been cancelled.

A source said: “It’s not great news for Chris after losing Top Gear, but there isn’t the appetite to bring back TFI again.”

“Chris is seen as a nightmare to deal with and I don’t think they want the hassle that comes with it.”

The show revamp was well received generally however some critics claimed that the format was ‘dated’.

The news comes amid reports of bad behaviour from the flame-haired telly host including claims that he was sexually harassing a female member of the Top Gear crew.

On Monday, the Met Police confirmed a woman had made an allegation of “non-recent sexual assault”.

Chris wrote on Twitter earlier this week, “Stepping down from Top Gear. Gave it my best shot but sometimes that’s not enough. The team are beyond brilliant, I wish them all the best.”

It’s now believed that Matt LeBlanc will host the motoring show on his own in a bid to boost the flailing rating.

BBC Studios director Mark Linsey said that “the right people remain, on both the production team and presenting team to take the show forward and make it the hit we want it to be.”

It was previously reported that LeBlanc had threatened to quit unless Evans was fired.
