Chris Evans reveals real names of his twins after nicknaming babies Ping and Pong

Chris Evans and his wife Natasha Shishmanian have announced the actual names of their twins after telling the world that they were called Ping and Pong.

On Thursday (20 September), the pair released a statement – read out on Evans’s Radio 2 Breakfast show by guest host Sara Cox - that referred to the twins as “Ping and Pong”, nicknames used by the couple throughout the pregnancy. Their actual names are Boo and Walt, Evans says.

The 52-year-old former Top Gear presenter has already returned to the Breakfast show, telling listeners: “Right now, we’re talking about babies. Boo and Walt.”

Evans confirmed that the names were not short for anything, adding: ”Mum’s doing very well, babies are splendid, sparkling. We are beyond blessed.”

He later called Shishmanian to check up on her, to which she replied: ”Everything’s more than OK. I have four children in my bed right now.”

They have two other have two other sons, Noah and Eli, with Evans having another daughter, Jade, from his previous relationship with ex-fiance Alison Ward.

Evans had announced they were expecting twins in April earlier this year, revealing that Shishmanian was pregnant after “one last hurrah” at IVF treatment.

He said of having twins: ”No wonder twins end up so close for the rest of their life. Already, if one of them sort of begins crying and you place the other one next to the one that’s thinking about crying it stops.

“Boo’s already comforting Walt and Walt’s already comforting Boo... If one’s feeding, the one that isn’t feeding looks around for their mate.”

Meanwhile, Evans will be leaving Radio 2 later this year and returning to Virgin Radio to host their breakfast show. He previously hosted the Virgin show between 1997 and 2001.
