Chris Evans and his wife Natasha welcome twins
Congratulations are in order for BBC Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans and wife Natasha Shishmanian, who have welcomed twins.
The news was announced on Evans' Breakfast Show by stand-in host Sara Cox, who read out a statement from the host.
"Ping and Pong arrived safe and well last night," Evans said via Cox. "Both healthy, both strong, happy and blessed, as was mum throughout.
"Ping popped her head out at 22:10, Pong popped his head out 12 minutes later at 22 minutes past 10. Infinite thanks to the amazing team at Frimley Park Hospital, amazing people, amazing professionals, helping dreams come true. Thank you."
Evans had previously called his wife on Wednesday's (September 19) show live on air before her labour was induced.
The couple are already parents to two sons, Noah and Eli, and Evans also has a daughter, Jade, from a previous relationship.
Earlier this month, Evans announced that he was leaving his Radio 2 show, with speculation rife over who will replace him.
The BBC has already denied that Zoe Ball will be taking over, though Cox is one of the big names tipped, the presenter even joking about it on today's show.
"Well here we are then, welcome along to the show," she said. "My name is Sara Cox, we never thought we would get here, this is your brand new Radio 2 Breakfast show and I just want to say I am so thrilled. I would like to thank my mum for her support…"
However, she then broke off and is heard saying to someone in the background: "Just one day? Oh."
