Big news: Chris Hemsworth and Danny McBride are starring in a new Crocodile Dundee movie! Or are they? No one really knows.

(Well, besides maybe Hemsworth and McBride. And neither of them have mentioned it in their respective social media feeds.)

Speculation began yesterday (January 22) when a trailer dropped for a movie titled Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home, seemingly out of nowhere.

As well as claiming the movie is set for release in summer 2018, the 45-second trailer shows Hemsworth holding a sign that reads 'Dundee', before greeting Danny McBride as he steps off a bus.

Apparently McBride will play Brian, the estranged and American son of the legendary crocodile hunter Michael Dundee (Paul Hogan), who sets out to find his dad after he goes missing in the Australian outback. However, not everyone is convinced the movie is actually going to happen.

Indeed, considering no one had heard of the film until yesterday, the question remains: is this actually a thing? Or is it a promotional spoof for something else entirely?

The jury is well and truly out on that one, with some people believing in the movie and others conjecturing that it's a Super Bowl ad, a promotional tourism spoof, or both.
