Chris Pine has admitted that he doesn’t know why his full-frontal nude scene in Outlaw King attracted so much attention, calling the reaction “double standards”.

The Hollywood actor strips off in his role as Robert the Bruce in the new Netflix film, available on the streaming platform next month.

But, speaking on the Graham Norton Show, Pine said that he couldn’t understand what all the fuss was about and that the reaction he received highlighted “double standards”.

Pine told the show: “I bare the 'full monty' and it got a lot of attention... What did strike me most is that [co-star] Florence Pugh bares everything too and no-one commented.

"I am not sure what that means. Either people think they can't comment or everyone expects women to get naked. Either way, it's double standards.”

American actor Pine, 38, transforms into Robert the Bruce, who led 500 men to defeat an English army, in the biopic and admitted he was nervous about using a Scottish accent.

He said: “I figured I'd get crucified for it but I had a wonderful voice coach and the cast were all Scottish so I figured they would pick me up on things.

“I am not a method actor, but I would keep up the accent in the pub after filming. I was entirely pretentious!"

Pine joined Graham Norton on the sofa alongside Sally Field, Sir Michael Caine and Rami Malek, who stars as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody.

The Graham Norton Show airs Friday October 19 at 10.35pm on BBC One.
