Chris Pratt has revealed that he has a rule in place to allow his son to swear while out fishing – leading to one particular moment when he found it “hard not to laugh at”.

Jurassic World star Pratt joined Graham Norton on his show for a chat on Friday when the host asked him about his approach to parenting.

Pratt, who has a five-year-old son named Jack, explained that, while bad language isn’t generally permitted, the rule is that his son is allowed to curse when they go out fishing because his father had that very same rule.

The actor said: “I was out on the late with my son and he caught a fish. The fish flopped about and its fin poked my son, who ends up crying.

“I tell him it is okay to swear so he says ‘Dad, I am about to swear. That bass is stupid.’ I encourage him so he says. ‘Stupid, stupid bass.’

“When I say, ‘Okay, get it all out,’ he says, “Stupid bass, you f****** p****!’

“It was a little hard not to laugh at that,” he added recalling the moment.

Jack was born prematurely in August 2012, several years after Pratt married Anna Faris. The couple announced their split last year, saying that they "tried really hard for a long time".

Hollywood star Pratt was joined by co-stars Jeff Goldblum and Bryce Dallas Howard on the sofa as well as Line of Duty star Thandie Newton and former Scissors Sister singer Jake Shears.

During her chat, Newton revealed that she was once mistaken for Zoe Saldana by Victoria Beckham when they met at Soul Cycle in LA.

The Graham Norton Show airs Friday 25 May at 10.35pm on BBC One.
