Chrissy Teigen says sorry after 'tone deaf and icky' tweet sparks anger

Chrissy Teigen has apologised after making a "super tone deaf and icky" joke about her mother and her AirPods.

The model sparked a backlash about wealth when she posted a message on Twitter saying that her mum treated the headphones (which cost around £150) as if they were disposable.

She tweeted: “My mom treats her air pods like they're disposable.

“Buys a few a month. she says they would be easier to not lose if they had....a cord.”

Some fans thought Teigen was showing off about the family’s wealth, with one posting “we get it, you’re rich”, and another saying: “I'm thinking about how much food that could buy.”

However, the cover girl has now insisted that she was just making a joke about her mother not realising that AirPods with cords are just headphones.

The star, 33, tweeted: “Oh man I haven’t checked my mentions for a bit and I didn’t realize how many people were super p***** off about this.
