Christian Eriksen completes move to Inter Milan from Tottenham

One of the month’s biggest transfer sagas finally has its resolution.

Christian Eriksen officially joined Inter Milan from Tottenham Hotspur, and signed a contract through June 2024, according to a club statement.

Sky Sports reports the deal is for $22 million, with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy refusing to budge off his initial evaluation for the 27-year-old Danish playmaker.

Eriksen joins manager Antonio Conte and Inter’s chase for the club’s first Serie A title since completing a historic treble in 2010, winning the league, Coppa Italia and Champions League.

Conte prefers five midfielders in his setups, with Stefano Sensi playing the more advanced role of the three central mids this season. Will Eriksen assume that spot? It’s one of the key questions about his fit with Inter, although he did show some aptitude defensively within former manager Mauricio Pochettino’s system in North London.

This is the third acquisition Inter has made this transfer window, with Eriksen joining former Manchester United defender Ashley Young and Chelsea loanee Victor Moses.

For their part, Jose Mourinho and Tottenham made Giovanni Lo Celso’s loan from Real Betis permanent for $35 million to help fill the Eriksen void.
