Christian Siriano remade Melissa McCarthy's dress days before 2023 Academy Awards

Christian Siriano was forced to remake Melissa McCarthy's dress just days before the 2023 Academy Awards.

Last week, the fashion designer shared in an Instagram post that a "few" of his designs were "ruined" when a pipe burst in his studio.

And while appearing on E!'s red carpet pre-show on Monday, Christian revealed that Melissa's bright red ballgown was one of the looks that were damaged by the unexpected flood.

"We were just freaking out all day. I took the last dress with me on the plane yesterday... I dropped it off myself," he explained. "I wasn't gonna say anything about what really happened because I don't want the actress who's wearing something to know that her dress was fully remade."

Despite the drama, Christian was thrilled with how Melissa's ensemble, which featured a satin bodice and tulle skirt, turned out.

"It's a big moment. She's about to be in such an incredible film for Disney playing Ursula in The Little Mermaid, how fabulous. So, I just wanted to give her a really fabulous fashion moment," the Project Runway alum continued.

Christian also designed outfits for several other attendees, including Lilly Singh, Harvey Guillen, and Shohreh Aghdashloo.

Melissa appeared at the prizegiving alongside her The Little Mermaid co-star Halle Bailey to unveil the first official trailer for Disney's upcoming live-action remake.

The film is set to be released in May.
