Christina Applegate isn’t alone in her battle with multiple sclerosis.

The Dead to Me actress publicly shared her diagnosis with the potentially disabling central nervous system disease in August of 2021, writing on Twitter at the time, "A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition. It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some a**hole blocks it."

In a Twitter Q&A with fans on Jan. 13, Applegate shared how she feels about both she and her The Sweetest Thing co-star Selma Blair suffering from MS at the same time. In response to a fan who asked her if filming the 2002 comedy, which also starred Cameron Diaz, was “fun,” Applegate confirmed that it was “so fun,” before adding, “sad both of us have MS.”

She also told her followers that one of her 2022 “goals” was a “cure for MS, maybe????”

Blair showed Applegate support when she first announced she was battling MS, writing on Twitter, “Loving you always. Always here.”

In November, Applegate celebrated her 50th birthday with a tweet about resilience.

“I turned 50 today. And I have MS,” she shared. “It’s been a hard one. Sending so much love to all of you this day. Many are hurting today, and I am thinking of you. May we find that strength to lift our heads up. Mine currently is on my pillow. But I try.”

Blair recently chronicled her own MS journey in the 2021 documentary Introducing Selma Blair. In an interview with The New York Times, she opened up about receiving stem cell treatment, as well as how the roles she’s offered have changed since sharing her diagnosis.

“The parts that I’m offered since I’ve had my diagnosis are the old woman, the person in the wheelchair, the person bumping into walls,” Blair explained to the newspaper. “I might be those things, but I’m still everything else I was before, and I shouldn’t be relegated to that.”
