Christina Applegate Says She’s ‘Not Putting a Time Stamp’ on Grieving Process After MS Diagnosis: ‘It’s Hard’
The actress opened up about living with multiple sclerosis in an interview with Robin Roberts
Christina Applegate is taking each day as it comes following her 2021 multiple sclerosis diagnosis.
In a preview of her interview with Good Morning America's Robin Roberts released on Tuesday, the actress, 52, spoke candidly about living with the condition and where she is in her “grieving process” after being diagnosed.
When asked by Roberts, 63, if she’s still in the grieving process, Applegate responded, “Mm-hmm.” She then added, “I’m not putting a timestamp on it.”
“I’m never going to wake up and go, ‘This is awesome.’ I’m just going to tell you that,” said Applegate, who was joined by friend and fellow actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler who also has MS.

“Like, it’s just not going to happen. I wake up and I’m reminded of it every day. So it’s not going to happen,” Applegate continued. “But I might get to a place where I will function a little bit better. Right now, I’m isolating. And that’s kind of how I’m dealing with it is by not going anywhere because I don’t want to do it… It’s hard.”
In May 2023, Applegate shared with Vanity Fair that she doesn’t think she’ll work as an actor again after completing the third and final season of the Netflix show Dead to Me, which aired in November 2022, as she continued to deal with her health struggles.
In another preview of from her GMA interview released on Monday, Applegate shared her heartwarming reaction to the standing ovation she received while making a rare public appearance to present at the 2023 Emmy Awards in January.

"I actually kind of blacked out," Applegate said when asked by Roberts if she was able to take in the moment. "People said, ‘Oh you were so funny.’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t even know what I said. Like, I don’t know what I was doing!' I got so freaked out that I didn’t even know what was happening anymore."
"I felt really beloved and it was really a beautiful thing," she added.

The actress then joked to Roberts about the reception, "I’m just going to say this... that audience stood up for everybody.”
