Christina Grimmie's Killer Has Been Identified

On Friday night singer Christina Grimmie was tragically shot dead as she held a meet-and-greet with fans after a concert in Orlando.

The 22-year-old singer, who shot to fame in the US after appearing on The Voice, was shot multiple times as her brother tackled the gunman to the ground, with her killer eventually turning the gun on himself.

Now the man has been identified by police as 27-year-old Kevin James Loibl, with authorities claiming that he did not intend to kill himself after shooting Christina as he’d booked a return train ticket to St. Petersburg, Florida.

The singer had opened for the band Before You Exit at The Plaza Live in Orlando and excitedly told her fans that she would be signing autographs and posing for selfies after the show.

Loibl approached Christina carrying two handguns, two loaded magazines and a hunting knife, opening fire.

During a press conference Orlando Police Chief John Mina said that it was likely that the attacker was a deranged fan who did not know Christina personally, saying: “That would be speculation, but that’s what it’s looking like.

"There’s no indication that he knew her, we’re looking into that to try and find a motive for the crime.

"He came here to commit this crime and had plans to travel back to where he came from.”

Our thoughts are with Christina’s friends and family at this incredibly tragic time.
