The Christmas film said to be most suited to your star sign - and mine’s spot on
I don’t know about you but I can watch Christmas films, any of them, on repeat, from about September when they start featuring among the TV scheduling.
An under-bed store of festive DVDS always offers a standby for viewing too, in the run-up to Christmas. They all have that feel-good vibe about them that so suits cosying up on the sofa in front of the fire (if you can afford that this winter) or under a fleecy blanket, sipping from a mug of mulled wine and making an early dip into the Quality Streets that you were “definitely saving until Christmas”.
Now it appears the perfect Christmas movie for your star sign has been identified. I was a little sceptical about this, matching personality traits of each zodiac sign to the best film, as I’m not a typical Aries, being right on the cusp with Taurus.

But, what do you know, the suggestions for the signs of the ram and the bull are spot on for me. It’s hard for me to pick an absolute favourite Christmas film but the one I have definitely watched the most over the years is Home Alone – and that’s the pick for Aries.
Another DVD of mine that gets some hammer, and I’ll also watch it when it shows up on telly, multiple times over the season, is The Holiday, and Taureans are supposed to have that movie at the top of their list.
Randomly, it is City of Doncaster News that has come up with the astrology/silver screen combo for Christmas, its CEO and cultural expert Andy Halliday saying: “Watching a holiday movie tailored to your zodiac sign can offer more than just entertainment. Matching your energy to a movie can be incredibly relaxing as it’s a chance to see parts of yourself reflected on screen, which helps reduce holiday stress and brings a sense of comfort.”
Here is the guide to the best holiday movie for each zodiac sign, designed to help you unwind and embrace the spirit of the season.
Aries – Home Alone
Fiery and fearless, Aries loves a movie with action and plenty of laughs, making Home Alone the perfect pick. The antics of young Kevin McCallister, running around his town and terrorising burglars, tap into the adventurous and resourceful spirit of the typical Aries personality.
“Aries is all about energy and humour, and Home Alone delivers both in spades,” Halliday notes. “It’s a feel-good film with just the right balance of excitement and festive spirit, a surefire way to lift an Aries’ holiday spirit.”
Taurus – The Holiday
Known for their love of comfort and romance, Taurus will feel right at home watching The Holiday. The film’s cosy cottages, charming romances, and scenic countryside speak to Taurus’ appreciation for luxury, heartfelt connection and comfort.
“Those who embrace their Taurus nature love a story they can relax into, with plenty of warmth and romance,” Halliday says. “This film’s aesthetic and emotional journey aligns perfectly with the Taurus vibe.”
Gemini – Elf
Geminis have playful personalities and have an appreciation for a comedy actor like Will Ferrell taking the screen in one of his crazy characters. That’s why this star sign might appreciate the humour and whimsy of Elf more than other signs.
Elf’s lighthearted charm and infectious enthusiasm are a great match for Gemini’s social, curious nature. “For Gemini, it’s all about lightness and laughter,” Halliday explains. “Watching Elf is like sharing a joyful holiday moment with friends, perfect for their sociable spirit.”
Cancer – It’s a Wonderful Life
Cancers, with their sentimental and nostalgic natures, will be moved by the classic tale of It’s a Wonderful Life. As water signs, Cancers love a good, healing cry and this movie is sure to bring out the water works every time.
The heartwarming story of a man who has lost his way and has to find it again by realising his impact on others touches on family values, resilience, and the beauty of a close-knit community. “Cancers will connect with this story’s depth and warmth,” says Halliday. “It’s a reminder of the season’s true spirit, and it resonates deeply with their emotional side.”
Leo – The Grinch (2018)
Leos love a splash of drama, which is why the bold and colourful world of The Grinch suits them perfectly. The 2018 animated version brings humour, flair, and a heartwarming twist to the classic tale, ideal for Leo’s big-hearted and theatrical personality.
“Leos appreciate the Grinch’s journey and transformation,” Halliday comments. “It’s full of laughter and a powerful reminder of kindness, which aligns beautifully with Leo’s generous spirit.”
Virgo – Love Actually
With a discerning eye and appreciation for detail, Virgos will enjoy the interwoven love stories and heartfelt moments of Love Actually. This film’s structured yet romantic narrative aligns with Virgo’s analytical but deeply caring nature.
“Virgos will enjoy the film’s complexity and the touching way it highlights love in all forms,” Halliday explains. “It’s the perfect combination of order and emotion.”
Libra – The Holiday Calendar
Libras, who value harmony and aesthetics, will enjoy the beautiful visuals and charming romance in The Holiday Calendar. Although this is a lesser-known film compared to the others on this list, the story’s focus on friendship, love, and fate resonates well with Libra’s idealistic and sociable nature.
“Libras will love the film’s warmth and the idea of destiny, which mirrors their romantic sensibilities,” says Halliday. “It’s light, fun, and full of holiday charm.”
Scorpio – Edward Scissorhands
Scorpios, known for their intense and introspective nature, will be drawn to the magical yet sombre world of Edward Scissorhands. Though the debate is still ongoing over whether Tim Burtons’ classic movie counts as a Christmas movie, its blend of fantasy and drama with a taste of spooky appeals to Scorpio’s depth and fascination with the unusual.
“Scorpios will appreciate the film’s darker, unique take on love and loneliness,” Halliday notes. “It’s a Christmas tale for those who see beyond the surface.” They can also watch this film during scorpio season as well as Christmas season because it doubles as a Halloween and Christmas film.
Sagittarius – Four Christmases
Sagittarius loves a good laugh and an unconventional storyline, making Four Christmases a great pick. This quirky holiday comedy about embracing chaos is a perfect fit for Sagittarius’ adventurous spirit.
“Sagittarians enjoy unpredictability and humour, and this movie delivers both,” says Halliday. “It’s a hilarious reminder to roll with life’s twists and turns.”
Capricorn – Miracle on 34th Street
Capricorns, with their appreciation for tradition and heartfelt stories, will enjoy the classic Miracle on 34th Street. This film’s themes of belief and perseverance resonate well with Capricorn’s determined and idealistic traits.
“Capricorns will appreciate the enduring values and timeless charm of this movie,” Halliday comments. “It speaks to their faith in hard work and miracles.”
Aquarius – Klaus
Aquarius personalities, with their unique perspective and appreciation for innovation, will love the creative animation and fresh storyline of Klaus. The film’s message about kindness and community aligns with Aquarius’ humanitarian spirit.
“Aquarius thrives on originality, and Klaus offers a refreshingly different holiday story,” Halliday explains. “It’s a reminder of the power of kindness—a core value for Aquarius.”
Pisces – The Polar Express
Pisces, known for their imaginative and dreamy nature, will be captivated by The Polar Express. This magical tale about faith and wonder is perfect for Pisces’ sensitive, mystical side. Sometimes it’s important to just sit down and fall back into the magic of being a child again and The Polar Express is one of the best films to do this with.
“Pisces will feel transported by this film,” Halliday says. “It’s a beautifully animated journey that speaks to their childlike wonder and appreciation for the fantastical.”
