On Friday's episode of The Circle (September 21), the players got to spend some time getting to know new contestant Sinead – who is actually playing as 65-year antiques collector Christopher – but little did they know someone would be leaving the show.

After Thursday night's 'party', some new relationships have been established, most notably between Mitchell and Aiden, who have been exchanging flirty messages. Genelle also seemed to establish a connection with Dan, after entrusting him with her secret that she has a baby.

But all bets were off when the players were alerted that there would be another vote, with viewers debating who should be the one to go.

When the votes finally came in, it was Kate – who's actually Alex, remember – who came top of the pile for a second time, with Sian behind her/him in second place.

As the top two, Kate and Sian were given the power to choose who should be blocked from the group – and after much disagreement, they eventually settled on Mitchell.

This came as devastating news for Aiden, having developed a flirty relationship with Mitchell.

However, Mitchell was given the chance to meet one of the players face-to-face, and it's not too difficult to guess who he picked.

Mitchell turned up at Aiden's flat with two glasses and a bottle of champagne, with both players relieved to discover that they weren't being catfished.

As the two of them immediately hit it off and showed signs of chemistry, viewers took to Twitter to voice their frustration that they won't get to see the couple continue their virtual romance.

There won't be an empty space in the group for too long, however, as new player Ryan will join the show when it returns on Sunday.

The Circle continues on Sunday (September 23) at 10pm on Channel 4.
