Circus Stunt Riders In Mid-Air Bike Crash

Two stuntmen have been taken to hospital after their motorbikes collided during a circus performance in Ipswich.

The pair were injured during a "thunderball" performance, which involved them speeding around the inside of a giant globe.

Audience members were asked to leave after the accident, which happened at Uncle Sam's Great American Circus in Chantry Park on Monday afternoon.

Both men were treated at the scene by medics from East Anglia Air Ambulance before they were taken to hospital.

They are now believed to be in a stable condition.

According to an ambulance spokesperson, one rider sustained a head injury while the other suffered injuries to their leg and upper body.

"Both were fully conscious and neither were critical. Neither are thought to be in a life-threatening situation," they added.

On Facebook, organisers said: "To all our audience from the 4.30pm show, we would just like to thank you for your support during the accident with our thunderball riders.

"We want to thank you for your understanding as we had to cut short the show. However, our riders' safety was, and is, our main priority."

The company's website describes the stunts performed by its "world famous" thunderball riders as "death defying feats".
