Citizens Help Indian Police Rescue People Trapped by Uttarakhand Floodwater

Members of the public helped police rescue people who were trapped by floodwater on October 19 in the Udham Singh Nagar district, as heavy rainfall caused deadly flooding in India’s northern Uttarakhand state.

Flooding in the state had killed at least 46 people by October 20, reports said.

Red alerts were issued by the India Meteorological Department for the region, warning of heavy rainfall over October 18 and 19.
