A popular restaurant in Birmingham city centre has reopened in a new spot after outgrowing its 'cramped' Stephenson Street premises. Tiger Bites Pig had been situated in a small unit near to New Street Station since 2018.

But after receiving rave reviews from diners, including Michelin-starred chef Aktar Islam who hailed its chicken 'crackle' bao buns the 'best in the UK', the Taiwanese-inspired restaurant found itself in need of a bigger home.

The top-rated spot was described as a 'culinary gem' and an 'absolute must if you're in Birmingham' in reviews, but some customers had mentioned the venue was 'very small' and 'a bit cramped'.

The Stephenson Street spot closed for the final time on Sunday, October 27 and the new Tiger Bites Pig opened its doors in Church Street on Wednesday, October 30. Brummies and visitors to the city won't have to travel far to find the place, as it's less than a ten minute walk away from the old location and close to Snow Hill Station.

The upgraded Tiger Bites Pig is offering the same much-loved menu, which includes a selection of bao buns, rice bowls and sides, plus a new wine and cocktail list. Thanks to its expanded dining space, the eatery is also now able to take reservations.

Co-owner Harry Roper previously told BirminghamLive that the relocation would also allow the business to offer private hire of its mezzanine area, 'while still maintaining the atmosphere that people love'.

In a thank you to customers on opening week, the restaurant said: "Our first week (or half of it!) at our new location is almost done! ... Huge thank you to everyone who's visited so far, and can't wait to see those who are planning to come soon."
