City restaurant named Best in Birmingham at British Restaurant Awards 2024

A restaurant which offers 360-degree views over the city centre has been named the Best in Birmingham according to the British Restaurant Awards. Orelle, on the 24th floor of 103 Colmore Row , was up against two of Birmingham’s Michelin Star restaurants.

Ten Birmingham restaurants were up for the award, but Orelle was named the winner at a ceremony in London on August 28.

Michelin restaurants Simpsons and Purnell’s were nominated, as well as The Wilderness, Tropea and Land. Sabai Sabai, Qavali, Zindiya Streatery and Bar and Harborne Kitchen completed the shortlist.

Elsewhere in the city, Strichley’s Riverine Rabbit had been shortlisted for the Best New Restaurant. The intimate spot, which only has space for a dozen diners, recently made the Michelin Guide.

While, BBC Great British Menu Chef and MasterChef The Professionals contestant Louisa Ellis , who spent five years working in Birmingham restaurants including Adam’s and The Wilderness, was named Best Young Chef at the British Restaurant Awards.

Posting about their Best Restaurant in Birmingham win, Orelle shared on Facebook: “WINNERS of the 2024 British Restaurant Awards ‘Best Restaurant In Birmingham’. To our incredible guests, we thank you for your continued support and could not have done this without you!

“And to our wonderful Orelle team, from our talented chefs, bar team, waiting staff, cleaners, pot washers, events, marketing and everyone else in between - we did it! This one is for you!

“Thank you to the British Restaurant Awards for a wonderful evening. Here’s to creating memories, 24 floors above our magical city!"
