We always secretly comfort ourselves that it will be our great grandchildren who will face the consequences of the environmental damage we are currently inflicting on the world.

It seems that we might not be that lucky and and will witness the world be destroyed in our own lifetimes…double damn.

A new report supported by the UK and US governments entitled ‘Food System Shock’ paints a hellish image of the future with more than two thirds of the world’s population living in ‘water-stress conditions’ by 2025.

Water-stress conditions simply mean not having enough water to live and grow crops…so not a good thing.

The report states: ‘Volatile food prices and increasing political instability are likely to magnify the impacts of food production shocks, causing a cascade of economic, social and political impacts across the globe.’

Why is 2050 the year that is picked out, you ask? It’s because that is when the global human population is set to overcome a whopping nine billion, ouch.

So as you sit on a sunny day in the park with a cold can of cider and a pastrami sandwich - just remember you only have a few more years before you will be forced to learn to scuba dive to sit in the same charming spot.
