Dozens of untaxed or uninsured cars were removed from a single road in Birmingham. Police seized 25 vehicles from Camelot Way, following complaints from residents about illegal activities in the Small Heath and Bordesley Green areas.

Officers partnered up with the DVLA, Birmingham City Council, and the Small Heath Forum, in targeting untaxed and uninsured vehicles on the roads. A stolen car was also recovered.

As well as seizing vehicles, street-licensing visits and waste removal were carried out. This work stemmed from Operation Hafren, an all out day of action last Wednesday (29 January) to tackle anti-social behaviour and vehicle crime.

Neighbourhood Police Chief Inspector Haroon Chughtai said: “We know anti-social behaviour – including parking issues and dangerous vehicles – is often underreported in our communities for various reasons. However, we also know that our communities, like many others, suffer from long-standing problem areas.

“Our teams will continue to listen to residents’ concerns around this, and as these fantastic results demonstrate – we are working hard with our partners to tackle the issue. Op Hafren is a monthly, visible, partnership-led operation that will continue to deal with ASB across the area.”
