Two men have suffered serious injuries after being knifed when a mass brawl broke out in a south London street, police say.

One man, 22, was stabbed multiple times in the face, legs and chest when violence flared in Albion Avenue, Clapham, shortly before 7pm on Monday.

A 20-year-old was knifed in the back and leg during the fighting. He was discovered by paramedics and police after staggering into Wandsworth Road.

Both men were rushed to hospital where their condition is described as serious but stable.

Detectives believe the pair had been involved in a fight with a group of men in Albion Avenue before they were stabbed.

A 19-year-old youth was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of GBH.

He is currently being quizzed by detectives at a south London police station.

Detectives from Lambeth CID cordoned off the scene on Monday night.
