Clashes in Peru After Death of Former President Alberto Fujimori
Supporters and opponents of former Peruvian president Alberto Fujimori clashed following the news of his death on Wednesday, September 11.
Fujimori died at the age of 86 “after a long battle with cancer” his daughter, politician Keiko Fujimori, announced.
The government declared three days of mourning for the former leader, with flags to be flown at half-mast ahead of his burial at the Museum of the Nation, located in the Ministry of Culture’s building, on Saturday, according to a spokesperson for the Presidency of Peru.
Footage filmed by Sebastian Ramirez shows Fujimori’s supporters and opponents clashing outside the Ministry of Culture.
