Classic Doctor Who star teases return
Doctor Who's Sylvester McCoy has teased a potential return in the future.
The star, who famously played the Seventh Doctor in the late 1980s, returned to the role in Jodie Whittaker's swansong in 2022, before appearing in companion show Tales of the TARDIS last year.
The latter series featured re-edited adventures from a number of classic Doctors, and in a new interview, McCoy hinted that it may be an opening for more appearances down the line.

Appearing on The 50% Doctor Who Podcast, the star was questioned on whether Whittaker's last episode 'The Power of the Doctor' was "closing the book".
"Not closing the book. That sounds like my end," McCoy replied. "But then we did Tales of the TARDIS after that. Russell T Davies wanted to reintroduce to everybody the Doctors, because they may be coming back.
"So, you know, that's why he did it, in the future he may want to use them. And therefore, we will be recognised as we are now and not as we were then."
Pressed further about a potential return, he added: "Well, that's up to Russell."

Doctor Who is currently gearing up for this year's Christmas special, while Whittaker herself is due to return to the role in new audio Big Finish series The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures alongside co-star Mandip Gill (Yasmin Khan).
Speaking recently about her comeback as Thirteen, Whittaker told Morning Live: "It's amazing. It's the dream scenario: it's playing the Doctor without learning the lines. It's my favourite part, I adore playing the Doctor.
"On the first day, I said to Mandip, 'I don't know if I can remember how to do the voice.' I was like, 'What voice did I use?' And she said 'that one' – I thought I couldn't do it."
Meanwhile, last year McCoy revealed that he tried to get the role of the Doctor years before he was eventually cast.
Doctor Who airs on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Classic episodes of Doctor Who are available on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
