Cleanup Begins in German City of Hagen Amid Catastrophic Flooding

The army was on hand in Hagen on Thursday, July 15, as efforts were underway to contain catastrophic flooding that had claimed at least 20 lives in western parts of Germany.

Local media reported both the rivers Lenne and Volme overflowed, with two bridges destroyed. Several houses were in danger of collapsing.

Police warned residents to stay out of the water after damage to electric cables.
