Cleanup Operations Underway in Atlanta Area Following Severe Weather

Cleanup operations were underway in Newnan, Georgia – a city in the Atlanta metro area – on Friday, March 26, after it suffered “catastrophic” damage following a tornado-warned storm, local media said.

Video released by Newnan Utilities showed crews starting to deal with downed power and phone lines, as well as uprooted trees strewn across a road.

The City of Newnan said it had “experienced heavy damage in and around the historic downtown area” due to the severe weather and said both “city and county crews are en route and working on scene to clear impacted areas.”
