I have a clear goal for Dan Friedkin - it can lift dark cloud from Everton

Everton’s agreement in place with the potential new owners the Friedkin Group is obviously a much-needed piece of positive news. There’s been a dark cloud over Goodison Park in recent times with an absent owner which has had a negative effect both on and off the field.

Possessing football experience already, the new owners will be ambitious and hopefully ruthless in turning round our fortunes and improving all aspects within the club from top to bottom.

As fans we’ve been very patient during this long ongoing saga. Seeing players move away from the club for financial reasons has been very frustrating and disappointing so hopefully this news development we can be more competitive in the transfer market and also keep hold of our prized assets to compete higher in the table.

A belief to fulfil our expectations as fans in the project must be the goal for the new group. Fingers crossed they can deliver on that score as it’s been far too long that we haven’t competed.

The takeover agreement comes on the back of Kevin Thelwell’s interview about Everton’s start to the season.

The club have been quiet for far too long when it comes to letting the fans understand what is going on and while we’re not happy with the current situation, I thought the communication to get it out there for the fans was good. So for Thelwell to come out and brief the supporters over what went on over the summer and how things work was a positive move and hopefully he can do that more often as adopting such a policy stops all these whispers about what’s really happening.

Everyone is a selling club now to a certain degree, but we’ve been selling players and not replacing them while others have been able to spend more money. Everton Football Club are not in a position where they should be in, and they’ve got to get themselves out of it and it’s good to see a little bit of communication from inside the club to the fanbase when it comes to the reasoning behind why things have happened and it would be nice if that could be done a bit more regularly.

Our fanbase are unbelievable. I listen to too many people who support other clubs, moaning and groaning about their team and I tell them: “Try and be an Evertonian for a week and then you’d understand the real stresses and concerns of a football fan!”
