Clearout of old Bulwell B&M commences as locals speculate on what might come next
Bulwell's old B&M site on Main Street looks like it may be welcoming a new occupier soon after workers were seen clearing out the premises. The popular bargain store moved from its former premises, pictured above, to the larger unit which used to be home to Wilko just a few metres down the street, on June 12.
Since the move, the old shop has been empty. But on Monday, September 9, a local resident posted online to say she had seen people inside.
People speculated on what the new site might be. One person said: "A pet shop like Pets at Home could be a good fit there."
Others agreed that a pets shop was needed in Bulwell. Someone else said: "Men’s clothes shop is what’s needed in Bulwell been saying that for the last 20 yrs."
A third said: "Home Bargains or Savers would be great." A number of commenters sarcastically quipped that it would be another barbers or nail salon - referencing the large volume of both types of shops which currently stand in the town's centre.
There is no official news yet as to what is occurring at the site. Nottinghamshire Live spoke to Bulwell Labour councillor Michael Savage, who said he was "not aware at the moment" as to what was going to be but added that "it would be nice to get somebody in it - that would definitely be a positive."
