Clever fox balances on a 5ft high bird feeder to get a free meal

This cheeky fox was caught on camera helping itself to a free meal – by balancing on top of a bird table.

The fox was spotted balancing on the 5ft-high wooden bird feeder so it could chomp on a bowlful of nuts left out for birds.

The bizarre sight was captured by Philip Goodger, who filmed the fox in the back garden of his home in Great Glen, Leicestershire.

The 23-year-old said: “We were coming down for breakfast at 8.30am and my sister shouted that there was something on the bird table.

“We thought she’d just seen a pigeon or something.

“But lo and behold we saw a massive fox eating at its leisure. We stood there in amazement.”

Factory manager Philip said the fox was brazenly balanced on its paws on the narrow table, munching his way through the nuts and seeds left out for the local birds.

“It was a remarkable sight,” he added. “He was there for about ten minutes until he was full and hopped down and slunk away into the undergrowth.”
