Climate Activist Runs Onto Court During French Open

A climate activist ran onto the court during the French Open and tied herself to the net in Paris, France on June 3.

The incident took place during the third set of the semi-final between Casper Ruud and Marin Cilic on the Court Philippe Chatrier. A woman wearing a t-shirt saying “We have 1028 days left” ran onto the court and tied her neck to the tennis net.

Climate activist group Dernière Rénovation claimed responsibility for the protest, and said the woman is named Alizée and is 22 years old.

The group published a quote they attributed to Alizée which Google Translate translates as “Today, I entered the field because I can no longer take the risk of doing nothing in the face of the climate emergency.” Credit: Dernière Rénovation via Storyful
