Climate Activists Block Intersection During Rush Hour in Washington

Climate activists blocked an intersection a short drive from The White House, on November 19, in protest against what they said was failure and inaction by US and world leaders on climate change.

In a statement, the Washington branch of the activist group Extinction Rebellion said: “The failure of Congress to enact meaningful climate legislation and the inaction of world leaders at the recent COP26 climate summit in Glasgow are crimes against humanity.”

On Twitter, the group said they were blocking traffic “to force the public to confront the true dangers of unchecked climate change.”
