Climate Activists Carry Pitchforks Inside New York Corporate Building

Climate activists gathered inside the New York office building that houses the investment company BlackRock on Wednesday, October 26, carrying signs and pitchforks in protest of the firm’s fossil-fuel investments.

Activist group New York Communities for Change posted footage of the demonstration inside BlackRock and called for action on climate change. The footage shows protesters carrying signs saying “Your investments are killing us” and “Your greed = climate chaos” and scattering what appears to be coal on the floor.

According to local reports the protest is one of several that took place in the city this week and coincides with the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Sandy.

On Thursday, local media reported climate activists protested outside the apartment building where billionaire investor Stephen Schwarzman lives and threw tomato soup at the building. Credit: New York Communities for Change via Storyful
