Clogau has closed one of its high street stores. The jewellery maker, which specialises in Welsh gold, has expanded its store footprint in recent years - adding shops in Wales and over the border.

But the Bodelwyddan based business has taken the decision to close the store on Conwy High Street. They blamed the UK cost of living crisis and the impact it was having on retailing.

The Conwy store had opened in 2022. Clogau also closed its Ruthin store earlier this year - blaming 'low footfall'.

Ben Roberts, Managing Director of Clogau, said: “The ongoing cost-of-living crisis continues to impact the high street and, occasionally, we have to make extremely tough business decisions to ensure Clogau is able to successfully navigate this challenging time.

“I can confirm that we have taken the sad decision to permanently close the Clogau Boutique in Conwy. We are incredibly grateful for all the hard work, dedication and commitment provided by the boutique staff for all our customers.

“Where possible, we will offer staff at the Conwy store new roles within Clogau and would like to wish them the very best going forward.”
