CLUB CHATTER

Mar. 20—Gingham Pals

The Gingham Pals Homemakers Club met at the home of Eleanor Arnold on Thursday, March 14, 2024. We each enjoyed the walk to the door as the yard was full of beautiful daffodils and many other wild flowers. Before the meeting started, we filled 19 "goody" bags for residents in assisted living at The Waters. Jerri Hay and Jane Hallgarth will deliver them on Friday.

President Beth Walsh opened the meeting by having us recite the Club Creed and the Pledge to the flag. Nine members answered roll call by giving their favorite black and white movie and favorite movie star. Eleanor Arnold read the minutes and they were approved as read. Trixie Woodard gave Inspiration by challenging us to keep learning and to learn something new every day. We passed the envelope for donations to the food pantry.

Debbie Richardson gave the Citizenship Report using words from Abraham Lincoln, reinforcing what a great man he was. Beth reminded us that dues will be due next month. Mary Roller gave us a very interesting lesson on the Mediterranean Diet, which is really not a diet but a way of life. We should eat less red meat and chicken and more fish. We need more vegetables and less sweets. The fruits can be our sweets. She encouraged us to try and make changes a little at a time. Mary had made a lovely veggie tray with humus and a Bulgar salad for us to try. Trixie served a wonderful blueberry cake along with this for our refreshments. We enjoyed the rest of the evening visiting around the dining room table.
