A new city centre club is opening after being born “out of the ashes” of an iconic club which closed down.

The Krazyhouse left behind a legacy which lives on in the memory of rock and metal music fans. Affectionately Known as the K, it burst onto the scene in the 1990s and become a rite of passage for students and young adults.

But in 2018, the club closed and left a hole in Liverpool’s nightlife for many people. Now some of the team behind the original Krazyhouse, who confessed it has “been too long since Liverpool had a dedicated metal and rock venue”, have opened K1 Metal Club.

This new space, just a few doors down from the original club on Wood Street, includes a conversion of the former Camel Club. A spokesperson for K1 Metal Club said: "We’re amazed with the feedback online so far, the support has been quite overwhelming with positive comments of how excited people are.

"We’ve had all ages messaging us telling us that they can’t wait to visit as soon as we are open. It feels amazing to give Liverpool a metal venue again.

"To start off with, we are only planning on opening on Saturdays, but we’re hoping it won’t be too long until we can open more often. We are already looking at other nights and working out ideas.

"The refurb has gone to plan and we are happy with the look of the new K1 site. We have the option to expand into more rooms also which we will look at in a few months time. " The original Krazyhouse on Wood Street is now home to Electrik Warehouse.

The launch event is on Saturday, June 29, doors open at 3pm. Presale ticket sign up and information can be found here: www.fatsoma.com/k1metalclub/
