Cocaine bust as drugs are uncovered in smuggler's breast implants

Doctors removed her implants and then made the discovery of the illegal drugs

A Panamanian woman found a unique way to smuggle drugs out of South America.

The woman had stuffed three pounds of cocaine into her breast implants.

She was arrested in Spain after authorities noticed gruesome scars, blood-stained gauze on her chest and pale patches beneath her skin.

The woman told border police that she recently had breast implant surgery, but a statement from the interior ministry said police were suspicious of her appearance and sent her to a local hospital.

Doctors removed her implants and then made the discovery of the illegal drugs.

The woman arrived in Spain from Bogota, Colombia.

European authorities routinely submit passengers arriving from Latin America to stringent checks to combat drug smuggling.
