Colchester stabbing: Essex police launch attempted murder probe after teen left with 'life-threatening' injuries

Police have launched an attempted murder probe after a teenager was stabbed in Essex.

A 17-year-old boy was stabbed in Colchester just after midnight on Saturday, police said.

He was found with life-threatening injuries on Osborne Street.

The victim was rushed to hospital, but is now said to be in a non-critical condition.

Essex Police tweeted: "We are investigating an attempted murder which took place around 12.30am this morning, January 20 in Osborne Street, Colchester, where a 17-year-old boy was stabbed.

"The victim was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries, however he is now in a non-critical condition."

Investigators believe the stabbing may have been a targeted attack, according to local media.

Officers do not believe there is a threat to the wider public.
