Cold Snap Freezes Long Island's North Shore Ahead of Major Coastal Storm

A cold snap brought the coldest day of the season to New York on Friday, January 29, the National Weather Service said.

Trish Minogue Collins shared footage capturing the sound of the wind on Friday afternoon on Long Island’s North Shore, where subfreezing temperatures had already frozen icicles onto the pier. Gusty winds up to 50 mph brought the wind chill into the single digits, the NWS said.
