Actors and Riverdale co-stars Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart have broken up, according to multiple outlets.
Forced distance between the couple due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic reportedly influenced their decision to take a break from their relationship.
"Distance is never good for their relationship. They decided not to quarantine together and knew off the bat that it wasn't going to work," a source told E! News.
Riverdale co-stars Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart have called it quits.
A source confirmed to People that the notoriously on-and-off couple are not currently seeing each other. The two actors play love interests Betty Cooper and Jughead Jones on the hit CW series adaptation of the beloved Archie comics.
Per E! News, the distance between the two actors due to social distancing amidst the ongoing coronavirus pandemic played a part in the relationship's demise.
"Lili and Cole were in a good place when Riverdale was shut down due to the coronavirus outbreak, but they isolated separately and distance has never been a good thing for their relationship," a source told E! News. "When Cole and Lili are around each other often, things are very good. Their relationship is very intimate and affectionate, but things become much more complicated when they're apart."
"Distance is never good for their relationship. They decided not to quarantine together and knew off the bat that it wasn't going to work," the source continued. "They both know their communication is better when they are together in person, and it just wasn't working."
According to the outlet, the pair's split may be more of a temporary break than a permanent breakup, however. There's a potential they could reunite once filming for Riverdale resumes. This isn't the first split for the pair who had previously broken up and reunited last year.
"They know they will likely reconcile once filming resumes," E!'s insider added. "Both aren't interested in dating other people, just using this time to chill and focus on themselves," continued the source. "Once Riverdale resumes production, Cole and Lili will have to be around each other and they have this fiery attraction to one another that always seems to bring them back together."
