Coleen Nolan cheekily stirred the pot by suggesting her mate Ruth Langsford was "insanely jealous" of her bond with Eamonn Holmes, just a short while before the couple announced their separation. Earlier in the year, during an interview, the Loose Women star discussed the long-running jest that she might 'snatch' Eamonn away from Ruth.

She shared these comments with the Express back in February, ahead of her tour. "I love winding Ruth up about him. I love him - and me and him get on so well - and Ruth's like, 'seriously, my best friend, one of my best friends? ' And I know that she's insanely jealous," Coleen disclosed.

"She gets really jealous so I love winding her up and going, 'Really, Eamonn is much better with me.' But then the papers pick it up, the magazines and stuff," she continued. "We do have a laugh about it as soon as she says something about Eamonn - like if she's negative about him," she confessed.

Coleen hinted at Ruth expressing exasperation over Eamonn's health woes, saying: "She'll say he's always moaning with all these ailments I go, 'Eamonn's not like that with me' and she's like, 'I swear to God I'm gonna kill you.' So we do have such a laugh about it. Love the two of them so much.", reports the Mirror.

Eamonn has indeed had a challenging time recently, including the loss of his mother and various health struggles. The GB News presenter's health reportedly took another hit in 2022 when, during his recovery from back surgery, he suffered a fall at home which resulted in a broken shoulder.

Reflecting on a harrowing fall he experienced the previous year, he recounted how Ruth was present when he lost his footing. He detailed: "I was on a curve of the stairs, and I just went back down the stairs, boom, boom, boom down the whole staircase until I hit the stone floor in the hallway".

He then described the frightening moments that followed, saying: "Blood was pouring out my mouth, and a bone was sticking out my shoulder. Ruth came rushing down the stairs. She kept saying, 'You're fine, everything's okay, you're fine.' I said, 'Ruthie, there is a bone sticking out of my shoulder - I'm not fine'."

The couple reportedly waited an agonising four hours for an ambulance. Eamonn shared: "Ruthie put a pillow under my head and sat with me in the hall and we tried to sleep."

In a candid discussion about the changes in their relationship since the accident, Ruth spoke about her new role as a caregiver. "Being a carer is not always easy, but when someone you love needs help, you step up," she revealed during a magazine interview.

At the beginning of the year, she expressed her deep concerns for his well-being, stating: "For 2024, I obviously hope for Eamonn that his back improves, he's not in pain and can move around more."

Ruth has also navigated personal challenges, including the loss of her sister Julia, who tragically ended her life in 2019. Now, Ruth is also looking after her elderly mother, who suffers from Alzheimer's and lives in a care facility close to Ruth's home.

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, who had been together for almost 30 years, stunned fans on Saturday when they declared their marriage was over. In a joint statement, the couple revealed: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."
