Despite being married to one of the world’s most famous sportsmen, Coleen Rooney admits she would love a day or two out of the limelight.
Speaking exclusively to Yahoo Celebrity at the launch of McDonald’s Football Mum Of The Year, the WAG admitted that fame does disrupt their family life.
“I’d love to go to just the most packed place like Alton Towers and have not one person stop us,” she said, adding that sometimes Wayne will drop out of family days so that things run more smoothly.
“Sometimes Wayne will purposefully not come with us if it’s somewhere we know will be busy,” Coleen admitted.
However, the 30-year-old was also quick to add that she’s not complaining and it’s something the family have learned to cope with.
“It’s part and parcel of what we do and you’ve got to deal with it – but because we came into it from such a young age we’ve got used to it.
There are days when we take the kids out and it seems unfair on them with so many people coming up and interrupting their time with their Dad. But then my eldest loves Messi – and he would want a picture with him – so it works both ways.”
“Kai is starting to realise people know who his Dad is, especially since he’s got into football. But at his school, it’s kind of the norm because they go to school with so many footballer’s kids.”
And Kai, who was recently rumoured to be following in his Dad’s footsteps and signing to the Manchester United youth development squad age just seven, is already a regular on the pitch himself.
“Kai didn’t get into it until he was about five but now he just loves it – whether he is particularly good or not I can’t tell yet – he’s definitely as good as the others on the team! But it’s nice to learn about winning and losing and the social side of everything he loves,” Coleen said.
