Coleen Rooney stars in ITV's 'The Real Wagatha Story' ahead of I'm A Celebrity debut
ITV is set to broadcast Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story, a documentary delving into her libel case with Rebekah Vardy, before the 38-year-old's debut on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! this weekend. The programme will provide an in-depth look at the 2022 case, offering exclusive access to the wife of Plymouth Argyle head coachWayne Rooney.
In addition to featuring interviews with her family, the documentary will also include insights from the legal team involved in the trial with Vardy, wife of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, in a case that earned the moniker 'Wagatha Christie'. The court case was initiated after Rooney accused Vardy of leaking her private information to the press via social media.
In response, Vardy filed a libel suit against Rooney, but Mrs Justice Steyn ruled in July 2022 that the accusation was "substantially true", subsequently ordering Vardy to cover 90 per cent of Rooney's costs, including an initial payment of £800,000.

The upcoming show will shed light on how Rooney transformed into an "amateur online sleuth" in her quest to uncover why private stories about herself and her family kept surfacing in the media. The documentary will explore the events leading up to the Instagram post in which Rooney levelled the accusation at Vardy, and how she successfully defended herself in the High Court.
The show will be available for streaming on ITVX from Thursday, and is scheduled to air on ITV2 next month. Coleen Rooney is set to join the I'm A Celebrity lineup on Sunday, when the show returns at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX. Other contestants include Tulisa Contostavlos, Oti Mabuse, and Barry McGuigan.
Before heading to Australia, Coleen revealed: "It has been year after year I have been asked to go on a programme and it's always been a straight no. Over the years, there have been different things going on in my life, and also, my children have been really young. But they are at an age now where I can go away for this length of time.
"I also feel it's time to have a challenge for me, and do something different. It has taken many, many years but I'm finally doing it. I have always said if I was going to do one, then it would be this show. I think it will be good for me."
