Coleen Rooney has reportedly decided to take action after a recent visit to see Wayne Rooney left her 'worried' for her husband. The mum-of-four has been in a long-distance marriage since Wayne started working as Plymouth Argyle head coach.

The former Everton and Manchester United player is based 260 miles away from their family home in Cheshire. Coleen has stayed in the £20 million mansion to raise their four sons Kai, Klay, Kit and Cass.

Coleen is said to have put her husband on the ultimate health kick after getting a 'shock' when she saw him recently. Speaking to Heat magazine, a source said: "Coleen got a bit of a shock when she saw Wayne recently.

"She’s worried he’s not taking enough care of himself now that he’s living on his own. It was always going to be a big adjustment for him when he gave up playing football professionally.

"He was at the peak of his fitness during that time – Coleen made sure he ate healthily and he was always running about and playing footie with the boys. Now, she feels he’s not putting himself first, and worries that he’s struggling to cope without her looking after him."

The source said Coleen's solution was to put Wayne on a diet and give him an exercise regime to make sure he is staying healthy in her absence, Mirror reports. The lifestyle change is all taking place in the run-up to his 39th birthday, when the family will go on a trip together to celebrate.

The source said: "She’s decided to put him on a bit of a health and fitness kick ahead of his 39th birthday next month, as she wants him to look and feel his best when they go away for a few days to celebrate."

The Mirror has contacted representatives of the couple for comment.
