A north London shop worker stabbed to death on his way home has been named as Anthony Adekola.

The 22-year-old was found with knife wounds in Martlesham Walk, Colindale, just after 11pm on Saturday.

Emergency services rushed to the scene but he was pronounced dead 45 minutes later.

A neighbour described Mr Adekola as “the nicest guy you could meet.”

“He was totally innocent,” they said.

“He was on his way home from work in retail when he was attacked. His family are devastated.

“They have no idea why this happened. They need answers. This was a boy who looked out for other people.

“He had never been in trouble. It’s a tragedy.”

A murder investigation has been launched but so far no arrests have been made, Scotland Yard said.

A special post-mortem exam is currently being carried out at Northwick Park Hospital.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, of Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime unit, said: “Another life has been tragically lost to knife crime, and our thoughts and sympathies are with Anthony’s friends and family at this difficult time.

“We continue to piece together the events of Saturday night and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw or heard anything suspicious to please contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police quoting reference number 8540/05SEP.
