Collabro release Hurricane Irma charity single

Musical theatre group Collabro are releasing a charity single after one of its members was caught up in Hurricane Irma.

The track, titled Lighthouse, will see all proceeds go to the Save The Children Emergency Fund, which helps children affected by war and disasters around the world.

The decision to produce the single was made by the band after one of its members, Michael Auger, witnessed hurricane Irma's destruction first-hand while on holiday on the Caribbean island of Saint Martin.

"The devastation left in the wake of Hurricane Irma is truly heart-breaking for the people of the Caribbean and Florida," he said.

"I know I was very lucky to escape unharmed but there are many thousands of people who have lost everything and will feel the effects of this disaster for years to come."

Collabro issued a statement saying they "wanted to do something to help those affected" after seeing "what Michael went through".

The band, who won Britain's Got Talent in 2014, said: "Save The Children does amazing work around the world and are a beacon of hope for young people and families caught up in war and natural disasters."

Save The Children have said they are "grateful to Collabro and their fans" for "raising vital money for emergencies around the world".

"Every download of Lighthouse means that we can continue to mobilise teams and reach the most vulnerable families at times of crisis."

Lighthouse is available to digitally download on 22 September.
