Colombian Company Creates Hospital Bed Doubling as Coffin Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

An advertising company in Bogotá, Colombia, pitched a hospital bed and coffin combination to combat shortages amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Footage uploaded to ABC Design’s Facebook page shows the assembly of the cardboard bed, which designers say also serves as a casket.

According to Google translate, ABC Display captioned the video: “ABC puts its creativity at the service of health with the development of a 100% ecological cardboard bed … contributing to the need to increase hospital capacity in the country … a bed that is 100% recyclable and biodegradable.”

As of May 18, Colombia reported 16,925 cases of COVID-19 and 592 deaths. Credit: ABC Displays via Storyful
