Colorado athletic director Rick George apologized on behalf of football coach Karl Dorrell on Saturday after Dorrell smacked a journalist’s camera following their 37-14 loss to USC.

Dorrell, as he was leaving Folsom Field in Boulder, smacked one of CBS Denver’s cameras away from a journalist out of frustration.

“Coach Dorrell sends his apologies to the local journalist who he intercepted after today’s game,” George wrote on Twitter. “We treat journalists with respect and apologize for falling short of that today.”

Dorrell’s actions were instantly condemned by CBS Denver’s vice president and general manager Tim Wieland.

Wieland later said that he spoke with George about the incident.

“I appreciate his genuine concern for our photojournalist and his sincere apology, along with the apology from Coach Dorrell,” he tweeted.

The Buffaloes dropped their fourth straight game on Saturday with their 23-point loss to the Trojans. They are now 0-15 against USC all time.
