Joe Lycett has unveiled his own portrait of Liz Truss – with a sweary message.

He has now shared the image – which was emblazoned with the words "f****** hell" – on Instagram.

Lycett, who is from the city, wrote: "While diners enjoyed the fruits of my small garden and the genius of the kitchen I sat in the corner of the restaurant painting.

"One of the paintings was of the Prime Minister, who across the city was refusing to tell journalists if she would support raising benefits in line with inflation, a policy which will undoubtedly affect and likely increase the homeless population of this country.

The star, 34, thanked those involved in the event, and carried on: "If you can support SIFA Fireside please do, but don’t get me involved I’m incredibly right wing and am sick to the back teeth of those bloody scroungers."

Lycett has been pretty outspoken when it comes to politics.

During a recent appearance on the BBC's new flagship politics programme Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg, he amused his fans when he claimed to be a “very right-wing” Tory supporter who was a fan of Truss.
